Just In From Mars

Riding atop the Curiosity Rover, the Mars Science Laboratory landed successfully on Mars on August 6, 2012 using a new and untested "Sky Crane" landing system.  The payload included the most expensive, heaviest, and most complex instruments ever sent to the surface of another planet, mounted on a rover the size of a small car.

Curiosity is now returning cutting-edge scientific data as it prepares to climb an 18,000 foot high mountain to explore the geologic history of Mars.  Join NASA/JPL Solar System ambassador Ted Blank for an in-depth look at how a group of dedicated scientists and engineers built the rover and got it safely to the surface of the Red Planet.  The talk will conclude with a review of the latest results and photos "Just In From Mars".
