Gene began a career of service over 50 years ago. His career of service has included serving in Arizona as a police officer, firefighter, and emergency medical technician followed by over 23 years of military service. Gene is a retired Air Force officer. He is a Distinguished Graduate of the Air Force Officer Training School and graduate of the Marine Command and Staff College.

His military career includes serving during the Vietnam War and Persian Gulf War followed by service as a senior civilian military advisor in Operation Iraqi Freedom and five years of service in Afghanistan with Operation Enduring Freedom.

He continues his lifelong career now with over ten years of service as an emergency manager for the State of Arizona. He currently serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team at the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management. Previously he served for eight years at the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs as the Senior Assistant Director and Chief of Staff for the Division of Emergency Management. His emergency management experience included serving as the State Emergency Operations Center Manager. He has responded to 49 declared state disasters and 2 federal declared disasters in Arizona.

Gene has earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Southern Utah University. He has also earned a Master’s Degree in National Security Studies from the California State University – San Bernardino.

Gene and Susan reside in Laveen. They have a son, daughter, and three grandsons.
In his “spare time”, he serves as President of the MOAA Luke Chapter.
