    Dr Eduardo Pagan

Eduardo Pagán, Arizona State University's Bob Stump Endowed Professor of History, was born and raised in the Phoenix area. He graduated from Arizona State University and earned a doctorate from Princeton University. Pagán was one of the hosts of History Detectives (PBS) which studied important historical events. One investigation, led by Dr. Pagan, studied Dr. Fred W. Thomas, a German American accused of being in a Nazi Spy during World War II. By examining primary sources related to the investigation into Dr. Thomas he reconstructs an accurate story of Dr. Thomas’s role in the war. This story starts with Jim Wark, a boy growing up in Detroit during World War II. Wark used to play toy soldiers with Fritz, his best friend, and the son of a German immigrant. One afternoon in 1943, Wark learned that a Nazi spy ring was broken right in his own hometown - and he never saw his best friend again. In this episode, Jim asks host Eduardo Pagan to find out whether his best friend’s dad was, in fact, a Nazi spy.
